Terms and conditions for using the EatMe mobile application and web services.
1. Scope of Agreement
These Terms of Service govern the legal agreement between you as a user and Leon Gött / EatMe for using the “EatMe” mobile application (iOS & Android) and related web services at https://eatme-app.com.
By registering, creating an account, or continuing to use the service, you agree to these Terms.
2. Description of Services
EatMe provides digital pantry tracking and food waste prevention tools:
- Pantry inventory tracking, storage locations, categories, and best-before dates.
- Barcode scanning and camera OCR for expiry date recognition.
- Notification reminders before items reach their best-before date.
- Shared household pantries and collaborative shopping lists.
- Recipe management, web and photo imports, and AI-assisted pantry recipe generation.
We reserve the right to modify, enhance, or adjust features to improve the service over time.
3. Registration & Account Security
Authentication is passwordless via email magic links or one-time codes. You are responsible for safeguarding access to your email account. Sharing sign-in links or authorization tokens with unauthorized parties is strictly prohibited.
4. Crucial Disclaimer: Food Safety & Expiry Dates
EatMe is an organizational reminder and assistance tool only.
- All dates recorded in the app—whether entered manually, fetched via barcode lookups, or recognized via camera OCR—are non-binding estimates.
- The app cannot verify the sensory quality, freshness, microbiological hygiene, or safety of any food item.
- User Responsibility: You are strictly obligated to inspect every food item independently (appearance, smell, texture, taste, packaging integrity) before preparation and consumption.
- EatMe assumes no liability for spoiled food, expired goods, foodborne illnesses, or health consequences.
5. Disclaimer: Nutrition & Allergens
Nutritional breakdowns, energy values, allergen flags, and ingredient lists shown in the app originate from open databases (such as Open Food Facts) or calculated recipe estimates.
These details may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. They are not intended for medical, allergological, or clinical dietary decisions. Always refer directly to the manufacturer's physical packaging.
6. Disclaimer: AI-Generated Recipes & Imported Content
Recipes imported via automated web/photo parsers or synthesized by AI algorithms from your pantry items are suggestions only.
You are responsible for verifying ingredient plausibility, safe cooking temperatures, and thorough cooking times (especially for poultry, meat, fish, and eggs).
7. User Content & Recipe Sharing
When creating recipes, uploading photos, or distributing shared recipe links, you warrant that you hold all necessary intellectual property rights and that no third-party rights are infringed.
Uploading unlawful, infringing, or harmful content is prohibited. We reserve the right to revoke sharing links or remove violating content immediately.
8. Availability & Limitation of Liability
We strive for reliable service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
We are liable without limitation for intent, gross negligence, personal injury, and statutory product liability. For simple negligence, our liability is restricted to foreseeable, contract-typical damages arising from breach of essential contractual obligations.
9. Termination & Account Deletion
You may terminate your use at any time by deleting your account inside the app settings or by writing to hello@eatme-app.com.
10. Final Provisions & Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). If any provision is deemed unenforceable, the remaining terms remain in full effect.
